I recon the Kitaco Cross Gear Set is the best and easiest way to improve the GROMs 4 speed transmission. Using a 1:1 4th gear in the GROM requires a change of final drive sprockets to complement the new gear ratio. In combination with a 1:1 4th gear I chose a 16 tooth drive and 34 tooth driven sprocket. This final drive combination keeps the speedometer error to a minimum when in 4th gear, my speedometer reads about 1-2kmh faster at 100kmh (in 4th gear). 1st 2nd & 3rd are much "taller" making 1st gear perfect as I found standard 1st gear way to low. Fitting of the two cogs dose require the cases to be split. Next time you have the head and barrel off, just remove the starter motor and flywheel and your ready to split the cases, no need to take the right hand side crankcase cover off. You will be pleasantly surprised as to how easy the Kitaco Cross Gear Set is to be installed. The Kitaco Cross Gear Set narrows the rpm gap between 3rd and 4th gear to just right so your engine has enough revs to keep pulling 4th gear to rev limit. I can't recommend this Kitaco product highly enough. It's how GROMs 4th gear should be I recon.
